I’m Kirstein - founder of The Birth Space and I’m SO happy you are here!

During my first pregnancy, I had so much fear of the process. All I had to go off of was what the media was telling me was normal. On top of that, I had no clue how to treat and prepare my body physically despite being a physical therapist. I took every course I could get my hands on and realized how underserved and underprepared women are during this season. I up and switched my physical therapy specialty to pelvic health in the middle of pregnancy so I could better understand how to support myself and others.

What I discovered was that postpartum physical therapy was starting to catch wind, but few were realizing that proactive care DURING pregnancy can directly influence both their birth experience and recovery.

I also saw a major gap in childbirth education. Fear, lack of informed consent, and limited understanding of how birth setting and interventions shape outcomes and mental health more than most women realize. And men were left to the imagination - just hoping and praying for the best, but not understanding their role. This realization led me to pursue certification in childbirth education. Physical preparation and informed decision-making should be done TOGETHER.

At the same time, I watched women wait until six weeks postpartum for “clearance”, only come in if they were brave enough to tell their provider they needed help, or struggle to leave their home entirely.

And thats how The Birth Space was born!

During pregnancy, I will meet you in the comfort of your own home. Together we will make a game plan that will physically prepare you for labor and birth. Childbirth education will be offered with the intention of complementing physical therapy preparation to prepare you mentally for any path your birth may take you on. Finally, rather than waiting 6 weeks, I provide early in-home and ongoing postpartum care.
